My aim is always the celebration of life – whether that life is just beginning, encountering one of life’s landmarks, or is at its end. Where inevitable sadness exists it can always be tempered with love, compassion and happy memories. In my many years of experience working as a funeral director I have, I feel, developed an innate sense of sympathy with the bereaved, verging on informal grief counselling on occasions. I will always try to be approachable, helpful and sympathetic.
Every funeral eulogy and service is written for that particular person. I don’t do generic “insert name here” funerals. Instead I pride myself that I will provide something special. I am prepared to spend whatever time it takes to get things right. All clients receive a full draft script of the service, and I am happy to alter anything that the client feels may need changing. I offer a service to clients from all walks of life, and I am completely flexible about the belief systems of all clients, including those who do not believe at all. I have in my time written services for clients of all faiths and none, including humanism, Wicca, and Buddhism. I have an extensive library of resources to draw upon for readings and music, and a good grasp of written and spoken English. My choral music background means I am able to sing and lead the singing at services if necessary.
Finally, I have experience of the funeral profession. In my time working for 16 years in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire and the West Midlands I have done literally every task in the funeral director’s job specification. I know what is important to funeral directors and I am still known and respected by many of the staff who formerly worked with me in the funeral business. My commitment to professionals and clients is that I will:
1. Confirm straight away whether I am available, and once booked will honour that booking
2. Make contact with the client as soon as I have instructions
3. Meet the client as soon as they wish
4. For funeral and celebration of life services I will provide a draft script by email for approval within 48 hours of meeting unless otherwise requested or agreed, and will liaise directly with your funeral director for Order of Service details, music choices and ceremonial details
